Boating insurance for boatersBoating in Southwest Florida can be a great experience. There are so many places to go and sights to see! Since we have so many waterways, there are a plenitude of places that cater to boaters. Here is a listing of places to visit while out on the water:

  1. Keywaadin Isand:
This is a barrier island off of the coast of Naples. Many boaters pull up onto the shore and get out to explore what nature has provided. Loggerhead sea turtles make this island a nesting ground. Far from the lights of the city, it doesn’t interfere with baby turtles making their way from the nests back to the Gulf waters. Picnics and gatherings are plentiful on this island. Development of the island has been banned due to nature activists who wanted to preserve its natural state. Thus, there are no cars, restaurants or bridges. The only way to access Keywaadin Island is by boat. Definitely a place to visit!

  1. Big Hickory Island:
If you like searching for shells, this is the place to go. The northern end of this island sees a lot of traffic, but the southern end is left in its natural state. Boaters can pull up on the Gulf side or putter around to the inlet to access the other side. You’ll find this just north of Bonita Beach on your map. If you are looking for a great afternoon of sun and the beach, visit this island.

  1. Dock-and-Dine:
Are you looking for a place to Dock-and-Dine? Then, drift your boat down to Marco Island where you will find the Snook Inn. A casual restaurant that you can dock your boat and enjoy the sea air from your table. Or, find your way to Bayfront in Naples where you can dock and enjoy a tiki bar or the American cuisine of The Tavern restaurant, among many other restaurants. In Tin City of Naples, enjoy The Dock restaurant’s incredible seafood faire while you gaze out over the City Docks. If you are boating around Ft. Myer’s Beach, pull up and dock at Salty Sam’s Marina where you can find two restaurants to enjoy!

  1. Cayo Costa State Park:
If you are looking for a serene, quiet experience where you can view manatees and search for dolphins, then head on over to Cayo Costa. With eight miles of beautiful beaches, this island is accessible only by boat. Take a hike on the nature trails, drop a line and fish in the surf, or picnic with your family on this beautiful island.

We’ve named just a few places to go while on your boat. Southwest Florida is the place to be if you are looking for adventure on the water. But, even though these are fun and relaxing places to visit, having the proper boating insurance is key. Whether you bump into another boat on accident, dock at a restaurant a bit too hard or lose your belongings while exploring, having the proper coverage is essential. Boating insurance will give you peace of mind when you are out enjoying yourself with friends and family.
